Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club OPEN HOUSE

Discover Etobicoke’s Best Kept Secret: The Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club
Chances are you’ve driven past it a hundred times without ever realizing what’s tucked just out of sight. The Etobicoke Lawn Bowling Club is one of our community’s true hidden gems—an oasis you don’t notice until you step over the little arched bridge and suddenly find yourself in a quiet, scenic valley behind the historic Montgomery Inn. Mimico Creek bubbles along one side, birds chatter in the trees overhead, and for a moment you forget you’re in the middle of the city.
For 75 years, generations of Etobicoke residents have been enjoying this peaceful escape while playing one of the world’s most surprisingly addictive sports. Lawn bowling has come a long way from its old fashioned reputation. Gone are the days of stiff white outfits and polite tea breaks. Today, it’s a welcoming, low impact sport for all ages—one that younger players are discovering is far more strategic and challenging than it looks.
Often described as “curling on grass,” the game involves rolling an elliptical bowl toward a small, movable target. Because of the bowl’s unique shape, it curves as it travels, and mastering that curve is where the fun begins. It’s easy to learn, endlessly social, and—fair warning—highly habit forming.
