Understanding Mental Health and Well-Being In Later Life

March 28 @ 2:00 am 3:00 pm

This workshop is a great starting point to learn about mental health, mental illness and addictions. We’ll answer your questions and help you understand what can affect your mental health in later life. You’ll leave with new ways to stay well and knowing where to turn to for support. For nearly four decades, Hope + Me has been helping people with mood disorders along with their families and friends. Fear and uncertainty surround mood disorders, which is why we believe in the transformative power of peer support. Our peers and volunteers will listen, empathize, and inspire hope. Hope + Me believes that talking to someone with a lived experience of a mood disorder proves invaluable to helping others with similar diagnoses to recover and lead a healthy life. We strive to offer hope by providing the best in Peer Support, clinical programs, and services to people with diagnosed mood disorders. Andrew Kcomt is the Knowledge Translation & Research Manager at Hope and Me – Mood Disorders Association of Ontario. As the co-chair of the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND) Community Advisory Committee (CAC), he represents the community and lived experience perspective on the Ontario Brain Institute’s (OBI) Knowledge Translation, Outreach, and Communications team. His interests include community advocacy, team-building, diversity enhancement, and collaboration.
