Two Sessions Available:
The History of The Kingsway – 11:00 am
One of Canada’s premier neighbourhoods, The Kingsway was the vision of one man, Robert Home Smith. Home Smith took 3,100 acres of ordinary Etobicoke farmland and turned it into an elegant series of subdivisions that were deemed “A bit of England far from England”
Adventures on the Silk Road – 2:00 pm
The Silk Road connected Medieval Europe and China with caravans of camel trekking through the remote mountains and deserts of Central Asia. It brought fabulous wealth to cities like Shiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand, but it also brought destruction in the form of nomads like Genghis Kahn and Tamerlane. Conquered by Russia in the 1800s these lands became republics of the USSR, which itself inflicted great suffering on the people and damage to the environment.
