Black History Month Celebration and Fundraiser

On Saturday, February 11, the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment will be hosting their 8th annual Black History Month Celebration and Fundraiser at Cineplex Cinemas Queensway from 9 am to 12 pm.
The focus of the event will be a screening of Steadfast: The Messenger and the Message, a 2022 documentary film directed by Fahim Hamid Ali, following the story of Jean Augustine’s journey from Happy Hill, Grenada, to being the first Black woman elected to Canada’s House of Commons and the first Black woman to serve in Canada’s federal Cabinet.
The event will also feature a welcome address by Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine and performances by JAC youth.
