Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra “Our Story” Concert

November 21 @ 8:00 pm 10:00 pm

Come celebrate Etobicoke with us in this special collaboration with the Etobicoke Historical Society, featuring the Local Vocals pop-up choir and Etobian composers. Artefacts on display will include a cannon ball from the War of 1812 – so of course we’ll play Tchaikovsky’s thrilling 1812 Overture. The jaunty Log Drivers Waltz, performed by Local Vocals, sets an upbeat tone that Etobian composer Gary Kulesha continues with his joyful Celebration Overture. Did you know the world-famous pianist and composer Oscar Peterson was a Mimico resident? Hear his Hymn to Freedom. We also perform Mozart’s Paris Symphony. This work was captivating Europe when Etobicoke was still Adobigok, nearly a decade before the Toronto Purchase from the Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation.
