Step back from the noise of everyday life and immerse yourself in the sublime works one of the greatest Romantic era composers: Tchaikovsky.
His Symphony No. 5 is full of sweeping melodies, dramatic contrasts and a recurring “fate” theme. You’ll sense both strength and vulnerability throughout, as the struggle with destiny eventually resolves from darkness to triumph.
By contrast, the Rococo Variations for cello are light, elegant and charming. As a special treat, you are hearing it for the first time on double bass, played by internationally acclaimed soloist Joel Quarrington.
Speaking of first times: don’t miss the premier performance of our newly announced 2025/26 Young Composer Competition winner!
Matthew Jones, Music Director.
