Sunshine Nails by Mai Nguyen – By the Lake Book Club

Join Mai Nguyen for a conversation about her new book. This fun and funny, but not frivolous, tale of about a Vietnamese Canadian family in Toronto, who must fight to protect their nail salon against gentrification in the form of a luxurious chain salon. Sunshine Nails explores generation gaps, work and making a home in a new country.

By the Lake Book Club offers six Tuesday- night events, between February and December featuring leading Canadian authors in conversation with Humber College graduates and alumni. Each in-person event includes a reading, discussion, audience Q&A, book-signing and American sign language interpretation. Virtual events are subtitled live and provide online viewing and audio.
