The program is offered to older adults 55+ and is offered in-person or online via zoom. Funding for this program provided by the Seniors Community Grant from the Province of Ontario. Workshop is held in person at St. Demetrius Apartment 123 La Rose Avenue and virtually via zoom.
This workshop will:
• Review Georgian and Ukrainian vocal polyphony as it’s practiced in the homeland, identifying: i) characteristics of each music with audio and video examples; ii) who performs it; and iii) how it is accepted by the public and supported by institutions
• Report on how the musical traditions are practiced in Toronto
• Give the audience a chance to learn and sing polyphonic songs
