The famous Tobilevych family made an enormous contribution to the development of Ukrainian theater. Four siblings became outstanding theatrical figures.
This is primarily, Ivan (pen name Karpenko-Kary), whose works formed the foundation of Ukrainian theater repertoire, and Mykola (pen name Sadovsky), who established the first stationary theater in Ukraine.
