SUMMARY:Winterfest & Urban Planning Design Challenge
DESCRIPTION:I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Nadia and I am a member of the Warren Park community. I’m working with a group of individuals who are committed to community safety and passionate about civic engagement. We’re working on an Urban Planning Design competition to re-design the infamous St. Mark’s Hill in the west end of Toronto; one of the main roadways providing access to the Humber River trails and major city conservation systems like Magwood Park and Etienne Brule Park.\n\nThe St. Mark’s Hill roadway has been a concern for the community for a while now\, as it is steep and dangerous\, and the local government has been slow to act on the community’s concerns. That’s why we are taking matters into our own hands\, and we’re inviting the city’s youth to come up with innovative solutions to re-design the hill\, and make it safer for everyone.\n\nWe are inviting submissions from students\, designers\, and anyone with a passion for civic engagement. We’ve already partnered with local schools and organizations to amplify the challenge amongst the city’s youth. Our submissions will be judged in the coming months\, and we’re excited to see what the community can come up with for this roadway that is used by so many Torontonians.\n\nMedia Brief here: https://www.warrenpark.ca/events/press-releases\nChallenge Website here: https://www.warrenpark.ca/events/2023updc\n\nWe believe that this story would be of great interest to your readers and we would love the opportunity to share more about our challenge with your publication. We would be happy to provide additional information\, including images and quotes from participants\, as well as provide access to our team for interviews.\n\nWe look forward to hearing from you soon\, and thank you for your time.
