SUMMARY:Tender Possibilities (Arts in the Parks)
DESCRIPTION:Tender Possibilities is a poetry reading group and creative placemaking initiative. Led by diverse facilitators and poets\, this series explores six themes—Origin\, Memory\, Migration & Movement\, Resistance\, Nature\, and Rebirth—in a cycle that aligns between the summer solstice and autumn equinox.  \nEach gathering offers a supportive and inclusive cultural experience that creates imaginative space for individuals to not only read and be exposed to poetry\, but to also locate themselves within the poetry. Participants are encouraged to listen\, reflect\, and respond\, resulting in deeper communal experiences and community building. \nAbove all\, Tender Possibilities aims to create a meditative environment\, where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together\, discuss poetry\, and contribute to the collective growth and well-being of our neighbourhoods.

SUMMARY:How about Friday Night\, Karaoke\, Music\, Comic Books?
DESCRIPTION:Offbeat\, fun\, silly\, random karaoke. And sometimes geeky little prizes? Free. Join us Friday 9:30pm to 2:00 am. Oh. We don’t take it too seriously. We just have a good time. I’ve always done this for fun. Why? Because I love seeing people get up there and challenge themselves and express themselves and have fun. That’s everything to me. It’s why I do it. The moment I forget why I’ll stop. I remember being terrified to try karaoke as a teenager and trying to work through the fear. I love the regulars and I love encouraging them. The moment it feels like work I’ll stop 🙂 Classic rock\, pop\, country\, rock n roll\, R&B\, Showtunes\, try something fun. Oh also the bar has cheap drinks\, pool\, and darts.\n@exilekaraoke \nETOBICOKE LOCAL 2961 Lakeshore Blvd W

SUMMARY:Tarot Painting on glass
DESCRIPTION:YOU CAN PAINT – For better Health -Mental Body Health\nWhy do Reverse Glass Painting?\nMost of us enjoyed drawing\, doodling or painting with colorful paints when we were small\, before somebody seeded in our mind the idea that we are not too good at art. Perhaps we have tried a few more times before totally giving up and deciding that an artistic career is not for us in this lifetime. But by turning away from that gift of creative impulse we’ve abandoned the most fun and emotionally satisfying activity we as humans can experience. Mark making on a sheet of paper or laying a brush stroke across a canvas is so pleasant it is used as a therapy even if you don’t have any talent you’re willing to acknowledge. It is not only for fun\, it is at its very core an activity of visual expression that is uplifting\, balancing and healing to our emotional and\, yes\, physical being also. Countless studies have proved the benefits of art expressions\, but for most people the inner fear that they can’t draw still holds them back.\nTHAT’S WHY we start our personal renaissance with Reverse Glass Painting. The transparency of the glass allows us to trace the lines of the drawing underneath and then color in with wonderful sparkles and bright paints. Glass is a very forgiving surface – you can erase\, scratch or just wash the parts that you don’t like\, you can even wash it all off and start again. The light that comes through the glass bounces off the paint particles so the colors look much brighter than when laid flat on a canvas. As you practice your hand copying the underlying drawing the confidence starts to build. First we plan how to build up layers on the glass. Then we practice applying markers and acrylic paint. Then we sparkle fun with glitter\, luminescent paint and metal leaf applications. Students almost immediately venture into experimenting with their own ideas – it is easy to be confident when you know you can reverse a few steps back. The intermediate results are wonderfully satisfying at every step of the process. The final work is stunning!
