DESCRIPTION:Come join new friends in the Stay Connected Program in our weekly exercises classes! The program is offered to older adults 55+ and is held in person at 123 La Rose Avenue\, or virtually via Zoom. Learn More: www.stdemetrius.ca/community-programs\n— \nCome prepared to move and generate body heat.  In this class you will foster functional power and strength. It is suited to those who already have a good foundation of mobility and balance and who can move from standing into moderate/modified squats and/or onto the mat.  Dynamic Power & Strength is designed to foster muscle power\, overall strength and freedom of movement.\nThe class will included four sections: warm up\, modified plyometrics\, dynamic strength conditioning and cool down.\nModified plyometrics are low-impact exercises that activate the stretch-shortening cycle in our muscles to increase strength and performance. Modified plyometrics can enhance functional fitness\, increase ease of daily activities and help improve balance\, coordination\, and bone density\, for sustaining an independent lifestyle.\nThe dynamic strength section of this class will focus on muscular endurance through eccentric (elongated) and concentric (contracted) muscle conditioning.\nParticipants can look forward to a paced\, yet challenging class that will leave them feeling strong and invigorated.\n—\n To register for classes or for more information please call 647-725-0877 or community@stdemetrius.ca

They support your spine and can help protect you from injuries such as those that lead to back pain.\nCore exercises train the muscles of your torso to work in in coordination with the breath and in overall harmony. This type of training leads to better balance and steadiness. Whether you are lifting\, bending\, or seated to watch your favorite show\, your core muscles enable you to perform everyday activities with greater ease.\nThis class format is accessible to all\, whether you wish to work while seated or standing.
