SUMMARY:The 34th Annual Cabbagetown Art & Craft Show
DESCRIPTION:September 8 – 10\, 2023\, Riverdale Park West at Carlton and Sumach\nFriday 1 – 6pm\, Saturday 10 am – 6 pm\, Sunday 10 am – 5pm. FREE ADMISSION \nOver the weekend after Labour Day\, the much-loved Cabbagetown Art & Craft Show will return to Riverdale Park West. As artists and art lovers gather in the unique heritage neighbourhood\, it promises to be the perfect way to mark the winding down of summer. The free event takes place against a backdrop of beautiful Victorian homes over the same weekend as the Cabbagetown Festival on Parliament Street and the Fall Festival at Riverdale Farm. \nThe Cabbagetown Art & Craft Show brings together 165 juried artists who have been carefully selected for their skill\, creativity and originality. From painting to ceramics\, photography to jewellery\, woodworking to sculpture and much more\, there’s something for everyone to discover and appreciate. \nTucked in the heart of Cabbagetown at Carlton and Sumach\, the park will be dotted with artists’ tents for two-and-a-half days in September. Visitors who wander the pathways can meet the makers\, connect with the artists and gain insight into the creative process. It’s a unique opportunity to support sustainable\, handmade\, local craftsmanship by finding that special\, one-of-a-kind piece. And it’s never too early to get a head start on holiday shopping! \nThe location is so inviting that visitors often linger to picnic in the park\, generously shaded by trees. There’ll be delicious treats at the food stands\, and the chance to soak up the sweet sounds of live music. Riverdale Park West sits opposite the historic Necropolis cemetery and chapel\, next to Riverdale Farm – both neighbourhood gems and well worth a peek.\nThe event has become a September tradition\, with locals hosting out-of-town visitors\, friends and families gathering to rediscover their favourite exhibitors. The pathways of Riverdale Park West are wheelchair and stroller accessible and younger visitors always appreciate a visit to the animals of Riverdale Farm. \nAnd here’s a bonus – on the Saturday and Sunday of the show\, the local streets have a habit of turning into a mini flea market\, with pop-up tables lining the sidewalks. When you’re finally done meandering\, head on over to Parliament Street to see what’s happening at the Festival and round out the day at one of Cabbagetown’s popular patios. \nAbout The Cabbagetown Art & Craft Show:\nWe believe that art inspires the soul. We’re a community-based\, not-for-profit corporation\, presenting the annual Art & Craft Show in the beautiful neighbourhood of Cabbagetown. \nOur commitment is to support art and craft creators\, to encourage appreciation of the visual arts and to give artists a place to showcase and sell their work. \nBy promoting Canadian artists\, this not-for-profit juried show generates funding that allows us to give back to our community\, helping support BGC Toronto Kiwanis (formerly known as the Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club).
