Saraka (Arts in the Parks)

Ballet Creole will present Saraka in the Park on August 17, 2024 at Fountainhead Park. The event will bring the community together for a Saraka, the African feast of Thanksgiving. Also referred to as Nation Dance, The Big Drum Dance and Sadaka, this dance is traditionally performed to express thanks and ceremony to the ancestral spirits who brought freedom to the mother-land. The ballet will consist of eight sections, each defined by a clear and specific cultural influence in the Caribbean. This event is free and open to all!
